That's interesting. The benchmark machine (486/33, 16 MB) is the same
as the original reference machine. The reference numbers are 1.0
Slopstones and 1.0 Smopstones on this machine for ParcPlace
ObjectWorks 4.1 and VisualWorks 1.0. VisualWorks 2.0 benchmarks about
the same as 1.0. ParcPlace has not improved its performance on this
very narrow set of benchmarks. Digitalk has been improving theirs
though and their latest 32-bit Windows version is now 1.36 times as
fast as ParcPlace. ParcPlace's performance advantage over Digitalk is
now a disadvantage, at least for this particular test.
