Check out Gofer (sort of a offspring/variant of Haskell).  Also the new
Mac port of Clean 1.0, which offers a full IDE, GUI support(!), and
can produce standalone applications...  Very well done, my kudos to
the Clean team.  Both come with fairly lengthy documentation, as well.
