There's no need to shout.

Why do people feel the need to stop other people from discussing (or
aguing about) something just because they aren't interested? You
don't have to read the thread if you don't like it. I, for one, have
found it immensly entertaining, educational, and an all around fine
argument!

: After all, we've just learned *nothing*,

Speak for yourself -- I've learned plenty!

I didn't think so, but maybe you're the one who gets to decide?

: There are three simple rules which human beings should be aware of:

: (1) plant a tree
: (2) build a house
: (3) give birth to a child.

Whaaa?

Planting trees may be a nice idea (just don't do in in _my_ kitchen),
but I don't think you would want to live in a house that I built (and
I don't really want to build a house and doubt that I would either
enjoy it or do a good job). I'm quite sure that I wouldn't make a
good parent and don't want to be one -- ignoring the fact that I'm
biologically incapabile of "giving birth to a child."

: We should be happy to be allowed to have an opinion.

As long as we keep our mouths shut about it? I wouldn't be happy to
be allowed to have an opinion yet be forbidden to voice it. Likewise
you are free to ignore it (or even to not read it or listen to it).

: And one aspect which makes the world so lovely, is that there are so
: many different people, having so many different languages, so many
: opinions,

And some very nice debates between them.

: so many colors... But we all are ONE world.

I suppose.

: Whoever wants/needs to speak English has the right to do that--and
: no one has the right to blame him for that. And this is exactly the
: same with computer languages.

Right-o. I have the right to use Tcl if I like; RMS has the right to tell
me I shouldn't; and I have the right to argue the point.

: I'm obviously not the one who started this thread, but I hope you don't
: mind if I try to stop it right now.

Yes I do mind. You seem to preach tolerance, but not practice it.

This thread has been mostly civil (by usenet standards), somewhat
relevant to the groups in which it's found (again, by usenet
standards), occasionally informative, and always interesting. Why do
you feel the need to prevent others from continuing the "disussion?"

: And if you do, please send me your flames using Email, *not* as
: follow-ups to this one.

I don't think they're flames, but opions differ...
