Double-crystal measurements at the CERN SPS / Scandale, W. (CERN ; Imperial Coll., London ; INFN, Rome) ; Arduini, G. (CERN) ; Cerutti, F. (CERN) ; D'Andrea, M. (CERN ; Padua U.) ; Esposito, L.S. (CERN) ; Garattini, M. (CERN ; Imperial Coll., London) ; Gilardoni, S. (CERN) ; Mirarchi, D. (CERN ; Manchester U.) ; Montesano, S. (CERN) ; Natochii, A. (CERN ; IJCLab, Orsay ; Taras Shevchenko U.) et al.
The UA9 setup, installed in the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) at CERN, was exploited for a proof of principle of the double-crystal scenario, proposed to measure the electric and the magnetic moments of short-lived baryons in a high-energy hadron collider, such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Linear and angular actuators were used to position the crystals and establish the required beam configuration. [...]

Track reconstruction and matching between emulsion and silicon pixel detectors for the SHiP-charm experiment / SHiP Collaboration
In July 2018 an optimization run for the proposed charm cross section measurement for SHiP was performed at the CERN SPS. A heavy, moving target instrumented with nuclear emulsion films followed by a silicon pixel tracker was installed in front of the Goliath magnet at the H4 proton beamline. [...]

Exotic meson $\pi_1(1600)$ with $J^{PC} = 1^{-+}$ and its decay into $\rho(770)\pi$ / COMPASS Collaboration
We study the spin-exotic $J^{PC} = 1^{-+}$ amplitude in single-diffractive dissociation of 190 GeV$/c$ pions into $\pi^-\pi^-\pi^+$ using a hydrogen target and confirm the $\pi_1(1600) \to \rho(770) \pi$ amplitude, which interferes with a nonresonant $1^{-+}$ amplitude. We demonstrate that conflicting conclusions from previous studies on these amplitudes can be attributed to different analysis models and different treatment of the dependence of the amplitudes on the squared four-momentum transfer and we thus reconcile their experimental findings. Diffraction physics with ALICE at the LHC / Evdokimov, Sergey (Serpukhov, IHEP) /for the ALICE collaboration
The ALICE experiment is equipped with a wide range of detectors providing excellent tracking and particle identification in the central region, as well as forward detectors with extended pseudorapidity coverage, which are well suited for studying diffractive processes. Cross section measurements of single and double diffractive processes performed by ALICE in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=0.9,~2.76,~7$~TeV will be reported. [...]

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), operating at the international CERN Laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland, is leading Big Data driven scientific explorations. Experiments at the LHC explore the fundamental nature of matter and the basic forces that shape our universe, and were recently credited for the discovery of a Higgs boson. [...]
