Design and perspectives of the CMS Level-1 trigger Data Scouting system / CMS Collaboration
The CMS detector will undergo a significant upgrade to cope with the HL-LHC instantaneous luminosity and average number of proton–proton collisions per bunch crossing (BX). The Phase-2 CMS detector will be equipped with a new Level-1 (L1) trigger system that will have access to an unprecedented level of information. [...]

CMS Level-1 trigger Data Scouting firmware prototyping for LHC Run-3 and CMS Phase-2 / Ardino, Rocco (INFN, Padua) /CMS Collaboration
A novel Data Acquisition (DAQ) system, known as Level-1 Data Scouting (L1DS), is being introduced as part of the Level-1 (L1) trigger of the CMS experiment. The L1DS system will receive the L1 intermediate primitives from the CMS Phase-2 L1 trigger on the DAQ-800 custom boards, designed for the Phase-2 central DAQ. [...]

40 MHz Scouting for the CMS Level-1 Trigger / Giorgetti, Sabrina (INFN, Padua) /CMS Collaboration
The Level-1 trigger Data Scouting (L1DS) is a novel data acquisition system under development for the Phase-2 CMS detector at the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). Its purpose is to capture and process Level-1 trigger (L1T) information at the bunch crossing collision frequency of the LHC preceding the standard L1T selections. [...]

A 40 MHz Level-1 trigger scouting system for the CMS Phase-2 upgrade / Rabady, Dinyar Sebastian (CERN) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS Phase-2 upgrade for the HL-LHC aims at preserving and expanding the current physics capability of the experiment under extreme pileup conditions. A new tracking system incorporates a track finder processor, providing tracks to the Level-1 (L1) trigger. [...]

Performance of CMS Level-1 Trigger Data Scouting during LHC Run 3 / Giorgetti, Sabrina (INFN, Padua ; Padua U.) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS Level-1 Trigger Data Scouting (L1DS) system represents an innovative approach within the CMS experiment, enabling the acquisition and processing of Level-1 Trigger (L1T) objects at the full LHC bunch-crossing (BX) rate of 40 MHz. The system will be fully deployed as part of the CMS Phase-2 Upgrade at the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), harnessing the improved Phase-2 L1T design, featuring tracker and high-granularity calorimeter data for the first time. The CMS Level-1 Trigger Data Scouting system for the HL-LHC upgrade / Meschi, Emilio (CERN) /CMS Collaboration
To fully exploit the extended capability of its upgraded L1 trigger at the High-Luminosity LHC, CMS is pioneering a novel L1 Data Scouting (L1DS) system, capable of acquiring and processing the quasi-offline-quality trigger primitives produced by the upgraded L1 at the accelerator bunch-crossing rate of 40 MHz. The goal of the system is to give full access to potential physics signatures otherwise constrained by the L1 latency and accept rate limitations, or whose selection strategy diverges from that of the standard CMS physics program. Radiation tolerance study of a commercial 65 nm CMOS technology for high energy physics applications / Ding, Lili (Padua U. ; INFN, Padua ; Northwest Inst. Nucl. Tech., Xian) ; Gerardin, Simone (Padua U. ; INFN, Padua) ; Bagatin, Marta (Padua U.) ; Bisello, Dario (Padua U. ; INFN, Padua) ; Mattiazzo, Serena (Padua U.) ; Paccagnella, Alessandro (Padua U. ; INFN, Padua)
This paper reports the radiation tolerance study of a commercial 65 nm technology, which is a strong candidate for the Large Hadron Collider applications. After exposure to 3 MeV protons till 1 Grad dose, the 65 nm CMOS transistors, especially the pMOSFETs, showed severe long-term degradation mainly in the saturation drain currents. [...]
