The Level-1 Track Finder for the CMS High-Luminosity LHC Upgrade / Holmberg, Mei-li (Rutherford) /CMS Collaboration
The upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) will provide an increased instantaneous luminosity, yielding more data for physics analysis, but imposing greater demands on the triggering systems of the detectors. In response, the CMS Collaboration is designing a novel Level-1 (L1) hardware track trigger using data from the Outer Tracker. [...]

Usage of tracking in the CMS Level-1 trigger for the High Luminosity LHC Upgrade / Moon, Chang-Seong (Kyungpook Natl. U.) /CMS Collaboration
At the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), the CMS experiment will face a harsh environment with a high instantaneous luminosity up to 7x10$^{34}$/cm$^2$/s corresponding to an average of 140-200 multiple proton-proton collisions per bunch crossing. The main goal of the CMS Level 1 (L1) trigger upgrade for the HL-LHC is to maintain trigger thresholds that are as low as possible and comparable to those currently in use at the LHC, and to possibly include new triggers that were not feasible at the LHC. [...]

A 40 MHz Level-1 trigger scouting system for the CMS Phase-2 upgrade / Rabady, Dinyar Sebastian (CERN) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS Phase-2 upgrade for the HL-LHC aims at preserving and expanding the current physics capability of the experiment under extreme pileup conditions. A new tracking system incorporates a track finder processor, providing tracks to the Level-1 (L1) trigger. [...]

The Track Finder of the CMS First Level Muon Trigger / Kluge, A (Vienna, OAW) ; Wildschek, T (Vienna, OAW)
The track finder receives trigger primitives from drift tubes in the barrel and from cathode strip chambers in the endcap muon system. It assembles those trigger primitives to tracks, assigns transverse momentum, direction and quality to tracks and transmits these data to the global muon trigger. [...]

Upgrade of the CMS muon trigger system in the barrel region / Rabady, Dinyar Sebastian (Vienna, OAW) ; Ero, Janos (Vienna, OAW) ; Flouris, Gianis (Ioannina U.) ; Fulcher, Jonathan (CERN) ; Loukas, Nikitas (Ioannina U.) ; Paradas, Evangelos (Ioannina U.) ; Reis,Thomas (CERN) ; Sakulin, Hannes (CERN) ; Wulz, Claudia-Elisabeth (CERN) /for the CMS Collaboration
To maintain the excellent performance shown during the LHCs Run-1 the Level-1 Trigger of the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment underwent a significant upgrade. One part of this upgrade is the re-organization of the muon trigger path from a subsystem-centric view in which hits in the drift tubes (DT), the cathode strip chambers (CSC), and the resistive plate chambers (RPC) were treated separately in dedicated track-finding systems to one in which complementary detector systems for a given region (barrel, overlap, and endcap) are merged at the track-finding level. Design and perspectives of the CMS Level-1 trigger Data Scouting system / CMS Collaboration
The CMS detector will undergo a significant upgrade to cope with the HL-LHC instantaneous luminosity and average number of proton–proton collisions per bunch crossing (BX). The Phase-2 CMS detector will be equipped with a new Level-1 (L1) trigger system that will have access to an unprecedented level of information. [...]
