A measurement of the $\tau^{-} \to \mu^{-} \nu_{\mu} \nu_{\tau}$ branching ratio / OPAL Collaboration
The tau /sup -/ to mu /sup -/ nu /sub mu / nu /sub tau / branching ratio has been measured using data collected from 1990 to 1995 by the OPAL detector at the LEP collider. The resulting value of B( tau /sup -/ to mu /sup -/ nu /sub mu / nu /sub tau /) = 0.1734 +or- 0.0009 (stat) +or- 0.0006(syst) has been used in conjunction with other OPAL measurements to test lepton universality, yielding the coupling constant ratios g/sub mu //g/sub e/ = 1.0005 +or- 0.0044 and g/sub tau //g/sub e/ = 1.0031 +or- 0.0048, in good agreement with the Standard Model prediction of unity [...]

Measurement of the tau lifetime and leptonic branching ratios in L3 / García-Abia, P (CERN)
Using data collected with the L3 detector near the Z resonance corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 150 pb/sup -1/ the lifetime of the tau lepton is measured to be tau /sub tau /=293.2+or-2.0 (stat.)+or-1.5(sys.) fs, and the branching ratios of the tau lepton into electron and muon are measured to be B( tau to e nu /sub e/ nu /sub tau /)=(17.806+or-0.104 (stat.)+or-0.076(sys.))% and B( tau to mu nu /sub mu / nu /sub tau /)=(17.342+or-0.110 (stat.) +or-0.067(sys.))%, respectively. From these results the ratio of the charged current coupling constants g/sub mu //g/sub e/, g/sub tau //g /sub e/ and g/sub tau //g/sub mu / are determined and support the lepton universality hypothesis. An OPAL measurement of the $\tau^{-} \to e^{-}\nu_{e}\nu_{\tau}$ branching ratio / Robertson, S (Dept of Phys & Astron)
The branching ratio for the decay tau /sup -/ to e/sup -/ nu /sub e/ nu /sub tau / has been measured using data collected by the OPAL experiment at LEP. In total 33073 tau /sup -/ to e/sup -/ nu /sub e/ nu /sub tau / candidates were identified from a sample of 186197 selected tau decays, giving a branching ratio of B/sub e/= (17.81+or-0.09 (stat)+or-0.06 (syst))This result is combined with other electroweak measurements to test e- mu and mu - tau universality in charged-current weak interactions at the level of 0.5Additionally, a value of the strong coupling constant alpha /sub s/(m/sub tau //sup 2/) has been extracted from B/sub e/ and evolved to the Z/sup 0/ mass scale to give alpha /sub s/(m/sub Z//sup 2/)=0.1204+or-0.0011 (exp)/sub -0.0019//sup +0.0021/ (theory). Results from the NOMAD experiment / Popov, B A (CERN) /NOMAD Collaboration
The NOMAD experiment has sought nu /sub mu / implies/implied by nu /sub tau / oscillations by looking for the emergence of tau /sup -/ in events from the CERN SPS neutrino beam. With some improvements in the techniques of analysis in relation to the results published previously and with the inclusion of data from the 1998 run, no evidence for the oscillations has been found, which results in an updated limit on the oscillation probability [P( nu /sub mu / to nu /sub tau /)<0.5* 10/sup -3/ at a 90% C.L.]. Precision $\tau$ and electron neutral current asymmetry measurements from the $\tau$ polarization at OPAL / Graham, K (Dept of Phys & Astron)
Preliminary results for the measurement of the tau lepton polarization and forward-backward asymmetry near the Z/sup 0/ resonance using the OPAL detector are presented. The measurement is based on analysis of tau to e nu /sub e/ nu /sub tau /, tau to mu nu /sub mu / nu /sub tau /, tau to pi (K) nu /sub tau /, tau to rho nu /sub tau / and tau to a/sub 1/ nu /sub tau / decays from a sample of 144, 810 e/sup +/e/sup -/ to tau /sup +/ tau /sup $/candidates corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 151 pb/sup -1/. Tau decays with charged kaons at OPAL / Towers, S (Ottawa-Carleton Inst for Phys)
From an analysis of the ionisation energy loss of charged particles selected from tau pair candidates recorded in the OPAL detector at centre-of-mass energies near the Z/sup 0/ resonance, we determine competitive measurements of the tau /sup -/ to nu /sub tau /K/sup - />or=0h/sup 0/ branching ratio, where the h/sup 0/ notation refers to a pi /sup 0/, an eta , a K/sub S//sup 0/, or a K/sub L//sup 0/. We also determine the tau /sup -/ to nu /sub tau /K/sup -/ pi /sup -/ pi /sup +/( pi /sup 0/) and tau /sup -/ to nu /sub tau /K/sup -/ pi /sup -/K/sup +/( pi /sup 0/) branching fractions, where the ( pi /sup 0/) notation refers to decay modes with or without an accompanying pi /sup 0/. Resonance structure of $\tau^{-} \to K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\nu_{\tau}$ decays / CLEO Collaboration
Using a sample of 4.7 fb/sup -1/ integrated luminosity accumulated with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) , we investigate the mass spectrum and resonant structure in tau /sup -/ to K/sup -/ pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ nu /sub tau / decays. We measure the relative fractions of K/sub 1/(1270) and K/sub 1/(1400) resonances in these decays, as well as the K/sub 1/ masses and widths. [...]
