Neutron Capture Cross Section for $^{10}\mathrm{Be}$
/ Volknandt, M (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Eberhardt, K (Mainz U.) ; Endres, A (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Erbacher, P (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Fix, M (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Göbel, K (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Heftrich, T (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Heinitz, S (PSI, Villigen) ; Hrivula, E (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Junghans, A et al.
The determination of the involved reaction cross sections is essential for the understanding of how the big bang nucleosynthesis and nuclear reactions in stars contribute to the observed abundances. One of those, which has not been measured so far, is the $^{10}\mathrm{Be(n,\gamma)}$ cross section. [...]

The importance of improving the accuracy on the capture cross-section of $^{238}$U has been addressed by the Nuclear Energy Agency, since its uncertainty significantly affects the uncertainties of key design parameters for both fast and thermal nuclear reactors. Within the 7th framework programme ANDES of the European Commission three different measurements have been carried out with the aim of providing the $^{238} \text{U(n,}\gamma)$ cross-section with an accuracy which varies from 1 to 5%, depending on the energy range. The new vertical neutron beam line at the CERN n_TOF facility design and outlook on the performance
/ n_TOF Collaboration
At the neutron time-of-flight facility n_TOF at CERN a new vertical beam line was constructed in 2014, in order to extend the experimental possibilities at this facility to an even wider range of challenging cross-section measurements of interest in astrophysics, nuclear technology and medical physics. The design of the beam line and the experimental hall was based on FLUKA Monte Carlo simulations, aiming at maximizing the neutron flux, reducing the beam halo and minimizing the background from neutrons interacting with the collimator or back-scattered in the beam dump..

A double inversion: Size and time resolved growth rates for aerosol particles in the CERN CLOUD experiment
/ Williamson, C (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Curtius, J (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Kürten, A (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Almeida, J (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Ehrhart, S (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Wimmer, D (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main) ; Helsinki U.) ; Lehtipalo, K (Helsinki U.) ; Tröstl, J (PSI, Villigen)
/CLOUD
An integrated analysis of multiple instruments measuring concentrations of aerosol particles in the CLOUD (Cosmics Leaving OUtdoor Droplets) chamber at CERN obtains size and time dependent growth rates. A matrix inversion is performed twice: first to get size distributions from measured concentrations using instrument transfer functions; secondly to get growth rates from size distributions using the aerosol general dynamic equation (GDE)..

Measurement of the $^{240,242}$Pu(n,f) cross section at the CERN n_TOF facility
/ Tsinganis, A (Natl. Tech. U., Athens ; CERN) ; Berthoumieux, E (Saclay) ; Guerrero, C (CERN) ; Colonna, N (INFN, Bari) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; Vlastou, R (Natl. Tech. Knowledge of neutron cross sections of various plutonium isotopes and other minor actinides is crucial for the design of advanced nuclear systems. The $^{240 , 242}$Pu(n,f) cross sections were measured at the CERN n_TOF facility, taking advantage of the wide energy range (from thermal to GeV) and the high instantaneous f ux of the neutron beam.
