Observation of charmed meson D/sup 0/D/sup 0/-pair photocreation events / Adamovich, M I ; Aleksandrov, Y A ; Atkinson, M ; Bolta-Dzh, M ; Bravo, L ; Brodbek, T ; Bruks, G R ; Byusse, P D ; Chernyavsky, M M ; Dagliana, M G et al.
Describes an event, discovered in experiments on the creation of charmed particles by tagged photons from the supersynchrotron at CERN. The event was simultaneously registered in nuclear photoemulsion as well as in the magnetic spectrometer 'Omega-prim'. [...]

D/sup 0/-D/sup 0/ mixing and CP violation from FOCUS experiment / Hwanbae, Park
Measurement results on D/sup 0/-D/sup 0/ mixing and CP violation are presented. FOCUS is the fixed target experiment at Fermilab and results are based on a high statistics photo-produced charm sample collected during 96-97 run. [...]

Production of charm in the SFM at the ISR / Sajot, G (College de France) /CCHK and ACCDHW Collaborations
Summary form only given, as follows. Charm production has been observed in two data samples obtained at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings (ISR) using the split field magnet detector. [...]

Charm decays and $D^{0}-\overline{D}^{0}$ mixing / Aleppo, M (Dipartimento di Fisica, Milan Univ)
The LEP1 data sample (4 million hadronic Z decays) recorded by the ALEPH detector is analysed to study charmed particle decays. The measurements of the hadronic branching ratios D/sup 0/ to K/sup -/ pi /sup +/, and of the purely leptonic decays D/sub s/ to tau nu and D /sub s/ to mu nu are presented. [...]

A remark concerning 20 plet dominance in charm decays / Bigi, Ikaros I (CERN)
Based on V spin consideration, it is argued that 20 plet dominance in the effective weak Lagrangian does not strongly reduce the inclusive decay rate of D/sup +/ mesons. Decays of the type D to K rho , K* pi , rho pi are discussed in pointing out that 20 dominance should lead to a large enhancement of D/sup +/ to K/sup 0/ rho /sup +/, (K/sup 0/)* pi /sup +/ over D/sup +/ to K/sup 0/ pi /sup +/; W exchange, on the other hand, leads to a sizeable suppression of D/sup 0/ to K/sup -/ rho /sup +/, (K/sup -/)* pi /sup +/ relative to D/sup 0/ to K/sup -/ pi /sup +/. Results on $D*^{\pm}$ production from CERN experiment WA92 / Lazzeroni, C (INFN) /BEATRICE Collaboration
We report on D*/sup +or-/ production in interactions between 350 GeV /c pi /sup -/ particles and nuclei. Reconstruction of the decay D* /sup +/ to D/sup 0/ pi /sup +/ and charge conjugate, with D/sup 0/ identified via its decays to $9 K/sup -/ pi /sup +/ and K/sup -/ pi /sup -/ pi /sup +/ pi /sup +/, has allowed isolation of a sample of 612+or-28 D*/sup +or-/ mesons, produced at positive x/sub F/. Production of D* mesons in photon-photon collisions at $\sqrt{s}_{ee}$ = 183 GeV and 189 GeV using the OPAL detector at LEP / Patt, J (Fakultät für Phys, Freiburg Univ)
The inclusive production of D*/sup +or-/ mesons in photon-photon collisions has been measured using the OPAL detector at LEP at e/sup +/e/sup -/ centre-of-mass energies square root (s/sub ee/) of 183 and 189 GeV. The D*/sup +/ mesons are reconstructed in their decay to D /sup 0/ pi /sup +/ with the D/sup 0/ observed in the two decay modes K/sup -/ pi /sup +/ and K/sup -/ pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ pi /sup +/. Lifetime of charmed hadrons produced in neutrino interactions / Conversi, M (Istituto di Fisica, Univ di Roma, Roma, Italy)
Examples of the decay of charmed hadrons produced by high-energy neutrinos in an emulsion hybrid experiment (WA17, CERN) and in a bubble chamber exposure (E546, Fermilab) have been directly observed. The decay paths of the five charmed candidates found in experiment WA17 (three positively charged and two neutral range from about 50 to 900 mu m, giving charmed hadron proper decay times well consistent with the meanlife expected from current theoretical models ( approximately 5*10/sup -13/s). Status of $D^{0} \to D^{0}$ mixing and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed $D^{0}$ decay rate measurements / Sokoloff, M D
D/sup 0/ to D/sup /0 mixing occurs when the weak eigenstates of the D /sup 0/ to D/sup /0 system have either masses or widths which differ. Such mixing is predicted to occur at very low levels in the Standard Model, but may occur at rates approaching the current experimental limits in models of physics beyond the Standard Model. [...]

Constraining penguin contributions and the CKM angle gamma through $B_{d} \to \pi ^{+}\pi^{-}$ / Fleischer, Robert
The decays B/sub d/ to pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ and B/sub s/ to K/sup + /K/sup -/ provide an interesting strategy to extract the CKM angle gamma at "second-generation" B-physics experiments of the LHC era. A variant for "first-generation" experiments can be obtained, if B/sub s/ to K/sup +/K/sup -/ is replaced by B/sub d/ to pi /sup -or+/K/sup +or-/. [...]
