Tevatron End-of-Run Beam Physics Experiments / Valishev, A (Fermilab) ; Gu, X (Brookhaven) ; Miyamoto, R (Brookhaven) ; White, S (Brookhaven) ; Schmidt, F (CERN) ; Qiang, J (LBNL, Berkeley)
Before the Tevatron Collider Run II ended in September of 2011, a number of specialized beam study periods were dedicated to the experiments on various accelerator physics concepts and effects during the last year of the machine operation. The study topics included collimation with bent crystals and hollow electron beams, diffusion measurements and various aspects of beambeam interactions. [...]

Beam-beam Effects in the Tevatron Run II / Shiltsev, Vladimir ; Alexahin, Yuri ; Lebedev, Valeri ; Lebrun, Paul ; Moore, Ronald ; Sen, Tanaji ; Valishev, Alexander ; Zhang Xiao Long
The Tevatron in Collider Run II (2001-present) is operating with many times higher beam intensities and luminosities than in previous Run I (1992-1995). Electromagnetic long-range and head-on interactions of high intensity proton and antiproton beams have been significant sources of beam loss and lifetime limitations. [...]

Beam-beam compensation studies in the Tevatron with electron lenses / Stancari, Giulio (Fermilab) ; Valishev, Alexander (Fermilab)
At the Fermilab Tevatron collider, we studied the feasibility of suppressing the antiproton head-on beam-beam tune spread using a magnetically confined 5-keV electron beam with Gaussian transverse profile overlapping with the circulating beam. When electron cooling of antiprotons was applied in regular Tevatron operations, the nonlinear head-on beam-beam effect on antiprotons was small. [...]

Collimation with hollow electron beams : a proposed design for the LHC upgrade / Stancari, G (Fermilab) ; Previtali, V (Fermilab) ; Valishev, A (Fermilab) ; Bruce, R (CERN) ; Redaelli, S (CERN) ; Rossi, A (CERN) ; Salvachua Ferrando, B (CERN) ; Moens, V (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne)
Collimation with hollow electron beams is a technique for halo removal in high-power hadron beams. The concept was tested experimentally at the Fermilab Tevatron collider using a hollow electron gun installed in one of the Tevatron electron lenses. [...]

Electron lenses for the large hadron collider / Stancari†, G (Fermilab) ; Valishev, A (Fermilab) ; Bruce, R (CERN) ; Redaelli, S (CERN) ; Rossi, A (CERN) ; Salvachua Ferrando, B (CERN)
Electron lenses are pulsed, magnetically confined electron beamswhose current-density profile is shaped to obtain the desired effect on the circulating beam. Electron lenses were used in the Fermilab Tevatron collider for bunch-bybunch compensation of long-range beam-beam tune shifts, for removal of uncaptured particles in the abort gap, for preliminary experiments on head-on beam-beamcompensation, and for the demonstration of halo scrapingwith hollow electron beams. Tune Studies with Beam-Beam Effects in LHC / Paret, Stefan (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Qiang, Ji (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Alemany-Fernandez, Reyes (CERN) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Calaga, Rama (CERN) ; Cornelis, Karel (CERN) ; Fitterer, Miriam (CERN) ; Giachino, Rossano (CERN) ; Herr, Werner (CERN) ; Macpherson, Alick (CERN) et al.
In high brightness colliders, the tune spread due to the collisions has a significant impact on the quality of the beams. The impact of the working point on emittance growth and beam lifetime has been observed in beam experiments in LHC. [...]
