Mixed WIMP-axion dark matter / Chatterjee, Suman (Tata Inst.) ; Das, Anirban (Tata Inst.) ; Samui, Tousik (Harish-Chandra Res. Inst.) ; Sen, Manibrata (Northwestern U. ; UC, Berkeley)
We study the experimental constraints on a model of a two-component dark matter, consisting of the QCD axion, and a scalar particle, both contributing to the dark matter relic abundance of the universe. The global Peccei-Quinn symmetry of the theory can be spontaneously broken down to a residual $\mathbb{Z}_2$-symmetry, thereby identifying this scalar as a stable weakly interacting massive particle, i.e., a dark matter candidate, in addition to the axion. Standard Model—axion—seesaw—Higgs portal inflation. Five problems of particle physics and cosmology solved in one stroke / Ballesteros, Guillermo (IPhT, Saclay) ; Redondo, Javier (Zaragoza U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Ringwald, Andreas (DESY) ; Tamarit, Carlos (Durham U., IPPP)
We present a minimal extension of the Standard Model (SM) providing a consistent picture of particle physics from the electroweak scale to the Planck scale and of cosmology from inflation until today. Three right-handed neutrinos $N_i$, a new color triplet $Q$ and a complex SM-singlet scalar $\sigma$, whose vacuum expectation value $v_\sigma \sim 10^{11}$ GeV breaks lepton number and a Peccei-Quinn symmetry simultaneously, are added to the SM. Invisible Axions and Large-Radius Compactifications / Dienes, Keith R. (CERN ; Arizona U.) ; Dudas, Emilian (Orsay) ; Gherghetta, Tony (CERN ; Lausanne U.)
We study some of the novel effects that arise when the QCD axion is placed in the ``bulk'' of large extra spacetime dimensions. First, we find that the mass of the axion can become independent of the energy scale associated with the breaking of the Peccei-Quinn symmetry. [...]

We study the feasibility of a new generation axion helioscope, the most ambitious and promising detector of solar axions to date. We show that large improvements in magnetic field volume, x-ray focusing optics and detector backgrounds are possible beyond those achieved in the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST). [...]

Lepto-axiogenesis and the scale of supersymmetry / Barnes, Patrick (Michigan U., LCTP) ; Co, Raymond T. (Minnesota U., Theor. Phys. Inst.) ; Harigaya, Keisuke (CERN) ; Pierce, Aaron (Michigan U., LCTP)
If the Peccei-Quinn field containing the QCD axion undergoes rotations in the early universe, the dimension-five operator responsible for neutrino masses can generate a lepton asymmetry that ultimately gives rise to the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe. This lepto-axiogenesis scenario requires a flat potential for the radial direction of the Peccei-Quinn field, naturally realized in supersymmetric models. [...]
