Nuclear reactions in Monte Carlo codes / Ferrari, Alfredo ; Sala, P R
The physics foundations of hadronic interactions as implemented in most Monte Carlo codes are presented together with a few practical examples. The description of the relevant physics is presented schematically split into the major steps in order to stress the different approaches required for the full understanding of nuclear reactions at intermediate and high energies. [...]

Application of EGS and ETRAN to Problems in Medical Physics and Dosimetry / Nelson, W R (CERN)
The author looks at a few applications of Monte Carlo programs to problems of interest in medical physics and dosimetry. In particular, two areas are considered: 1) bremsstrahlung production from medical accelerators; 2) photon dosimetry at medium to low energies. [...]

Monte Carlo simulation of $J/\psi$ suppression based on GCP code / Yao Xiao Xia ; Zhao Wei Qin ; Pang Yang
The production and absorption of J/ psi at SPS energies in p-A and A- A collisions have been simulated by using the General Cascade Program (GCP). The nucleon absorption mechanism and comover absorption mechanism are considered in investigating J/ psi suppression. [...]

Hadronic models and experimental data for the neutrino beam production / Collazuol, G ; Ferrari, A (CERN) ; Guglielmi, A M ; Sala, P R (CERN)
The predictions of meson production by 450 GeV/c protons on Be using the Monte Carlo FLUKA standalone and GEANT-FLUKA and GEANT-GHEISHA in GEANT are compared with available experimental measurements. The comparison enlightens the improvements of the hadronic generator models of the present standalone code FLUKA with respect to the 1992 version which is embedded into GEANT-FLUKA. [...]

Monte Carlo analysis of accelerator-driven systems : studies on spallation neutron yield and energy gain / Hashemi-Nezhad, S R ; Brandt, R ; Westmeier, W ; Bamblevski, V P ; Krivopustov, M I ; Kulakov, B A ; Sosnin, A N ; Wan, J S ; Odoj, R
The neutron yield in the interaction of protons with lead and uranium targets has been studied using the LAHET code system. The dependence of the neutron multiplicity on target dimensions and proton energy has been calculated and the dependence of the energy amplification on the proton energy has been investigated in an accelerator-driven system of a given effective multiplication coefficient. Heavy nuclei fusion dynamics and extra push phenomenon / Mikhailova, T I ; Mikhailov, I N ; Di Toro, M ; Kalpakchieva, R
The extra push phenomenon in the heavy nuclei fusion is discussed from the positions of the dynamic model presented in the report to this conference by I.N. Mikhailov entitled "Macro-microscopic approach to nuclear dynamics" (ibid., p296). [...]

Monte-Carlo simulations of neutron shielding for the ATLAS forward region / Stekl, I ; Pospísil, S ; Kovalenko, V E ; Vorobel, V ; Leroy, C ; Piquemal, F ; Eschbach, R ; Marquet, C
The effectiveness of different types of neutron shielding for the ATLAS forward region has been studied by means of Monte-Carlo simulations and compared with the results of an experiment performed at the CERN PS. The simulation code is based on GEANT, FLUKA, MICAP and GAMLIB. [...]
