ALICE Central Trigger System for LHC Run 3 / Kvapil, Jakub (Birmingham U.) ; Bhasin, Anju (Jammu U. ; CERN) ; Bombara, Marek (Kosice U.) ; Evans, David (Birmingham U.) ; Jusko, Anton (Birmingham U.) ; Kluge, Alexander (CERN) ; Krivda, Marian (Birmingham U.) ; Kralik, Ivan (Kosice, IEF) ; Lietava, Roman (Birmingham U.) ; Nayak, Sanket Kumar (Birmingham U.) et al.
A major upgrade of the ALICE experiment is in progress and will result in high-rate data taking during LHC Run 3 (2022-2024). The LHC interaction rate at Point 2 where the ALICE experiment is located will be increased to $50\ \mathrm{kHz}$ in Pb--Pb collisions and $1\ \mathrm{MHz}$ in pp collisions. [...]

ALICE Central Trigger System for LHC Run 3 / Kvapil, Jakub (speaker) (University of Birmingham (GB))
A major upgrade of the ALICE experiment is ongoing aiming to a high-rate data taking during LHC Run 3 (2022-2024). The LHC interaction rate at Point 2 will be increased to $50\ \mathrm{kHz}$ kHz in Pb-Pb collisions and $1\ \mathrm{MHz}$ in pp collisions. ALICE experiment will be able to readout full interaction rate leading to an increase of the collected luminosity up a factor of about 100 with respect to the LHC Run 1 and 2. [...]

The ALICE trigger system for LHC Run 3 / for the ALICE Collaboration
The ALICE Central Trigger Processor (CTP) is going to be upgraded for LHC Run 3 with completely new hardware and a new Trigger and Timing Control (TTC-PON) system based on a Passive Optical Network (PON) system. The new trigger system has been designed as dead time free and able to transmit trigger data at 9.6 Gbps. [...]

LVDS tester: a systematic test of cable signal transmission at the ALICE experiment / Barnby, L (Birmingham U.) ; Bhasin, A (Birmingham U.) ; Bombara, M (Kosice U.) ; Evans, D (Birmingham U.) ; Jones, G T (Birmingham U.) ; Jones, P G (Birmingham U.) ; Jovanović, P (Birmingham U.) ; Jusko, A (Birmingham U.) ; Kour, R (Birmingham U.) ; Králik, I (Kosice, IEF) et al.
In the ALICE experiment, the Low-Voltage Differential Signalling (LVDS) format is used for the transmission of trigger inputs from the detectors to the Central Trigger Processor (CTP), the L0 trigger outputs from Local Trigger Units (LTU) boards back to the detectors and the BUSY inputs from the sub-detectors to the CTP. ALICE has designed a set-up, called the LVDS transmission tester, that aims to measure various transmission quality parameters and the bit-error rate (BER) for long period runs in an automatic way [...]

ALICE Central Trigger System for LHC Run 3 / Pérez Moreno, Luis Alberto
The ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) Upgrade will require a very different triggering strategy in comparison to the current and hence a new Central Trigger System (CTS) is needed, The objective of the thesis has been to design and testing the new Central Trigger System (CTS) of ALICE for L [...]

The ALICE trigger electronics / ALICE Collaboration
The ALICE trigger system (TRG) consists of a Central Trigger Processor (CTP) and up to 24 Local Trigger Units (LTU) for each sub-detector. The CTP receives and processes trigger signals from trigger detectors and the outputs from the CTP are 3 levels of hardware triggers: L0, L1 and L2. [...]

Common Readout Unit (CRU) - A new readout architecture for the ALICE experiment / Mitra, J (Calcutta, VECC) ; Khan, S A (Calcutta, VECC) ; Mukherjee, S (CAPSS, Kolkata) ; Paul, R (Calcutta U.)
The ALICE experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is presently going for a major upgrade in order to fully exploit the scientific potential of the upcoming high luminosity run, scheduled to start in the year 2021. The high interaction rate and the large event size will result in an experimental data flow of about 1 TB/s from the detectors, which need to be processed before sending to the online computing system and data storage. Timing and trigger distribution in LHCb / Jost, B
This document presents the LHCb requirements for the distribution of trigger decisions and timing and control information to the Front-End electronics. It discusses the applicability of the existing RD-12 system with respect to these requirements. The first analysis shows that the RD-12 transmitter and receiver chips can be used [...]
