/ D'Elia, Alessandro (Frascati) ; Alfakes, Boulos (Unlisted) ; Alkhazaleh, Anas (Unlisted) ; Banchi, Leonardo (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence) ; Beretta, Matteo (Frascati) ; Carrazza, Stefano (Unlisted ; INFN, Milan ; Milan U. ; Padua U. ; INFN, Padua ; CERN) ; Chiarello, Fabio (Frascati ; IFN, Rome) ; Di Gioacchino, Daniele (Frascati) ; Giachero, Andrea (Milan Bicocca U. ; INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Henrich, Felix (Heidelberg U.) et al.
In this paper we report the use of superconducting transmon qubit in a 3D cavity for quantum machine learning and photon counting applications. We first describe the realization and characterization of a transmon qubit coupled to a 3D resonator, providing a detailed description of the simulation framework and of the experimental measurement of important parameters, like the dispersive shift and the qubit anharmonicity. The goal of the INFN SCENTT R&D; project is to develop the calorimeter technologies for the instrumentation of decay tunnels in conventional neutrino beams. This instrumentation is required to achieve a substantial improvement in the uncertainty on neutrino fluxes for the next generation cross section experiments. [...]

QCD in a moving frame: an exploratory study
/ Dalla Brida, Mattia (Milan Bicocca U. ; INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Giusti, Leonardo (CERN ; INFN, Milan Bicocca ; Milan Bicocca U.) ; Pepe, Michele (INFN, Milan Bicocca)
The framework of shifted boundary conditions has proven to be a very powerful tool for the non-perturbative investigation of thermal quantum field theories. For instance, it has been successfully considered for the determination of the equation of state of SU(3) Yang-Mills theory with high accuracy. [...]

R&D; for new silicon pixel sensors for the High Luminosity phase of the CMS experiment at LHC

The High Luminosity upgrade of the CERN LHC collider (HL-LHC) demands a new high-radiation–tolerant solid-state pixel sensor capable of surviving fluencies up to a few 10$^{16} n_{eq}/\mathrm{cm}^2$ at ∼ 3 cm from the interaction point. To this extent the INFN ATLAS-CMS joint research activity, in collaboration with Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), is aiming at the development of thin $n$-in-$p$–type pixel sensors for the HL-LHC [...]

(INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Meregaglia, A. (Strasbourg, IPHC ; Louis Pasteur U., Strasbourg I) et al.
The longitudinal segmentation of shashlik calorimeters is challenged by dead zones and non-uniformities introduced by the light collection and readout system. This limitation can be overcome by direct fiber-photosensor coupling, avoiding routing and bundling of the wavelength shifter fibers and embedding ultra-compact photosensors (SiPMs) in the bulk of the calorimeter. Thermal QCD for non-perturbative renormalization of composite operators
/ Bresciani, Matteo (INFN, Milan Bicocca ; Milan Bicocca U.) ; Dalla Brida, Mattia (CERN) ; Giusti, Leonardo (INFN, Milan Bicocca ; Milan Bicocca U.) ; Pepe, Michele (INFN, Milan Bicocca)
We present our progresses in the use of the non-perturbative renormalization framework based on considering QCD at finite temperature with shifted and twisted (for quarks only) boundary conditions in the compact direction. We report our final results in the application of this method for the non-perturbative renormalization of the flavor-singlet local vector current. [...]

Deflection of 400 GeV/ c protons by a short bent silicon crystal was studied at the CERN SPS. It was shown that the dechanneling probability increases while the dechanneling length decreases with an increase of incident angles of particles relative to the crystal planes. [...]
