Influence of Thermal Cycling on Cryogenic Thermometers / Balle, C ; Casas-Cubillos, J ; Rieubland, Jean Michel ; Suraci, A ; Togny, F ; Vauthier, N
The stringent requirements on temperature control of the superconducting magnets for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), impose that the cryogenic temperature sensors meet compelling demands such as long-term stability, radiation hardness, readout accuracy better than 5 mK at 1.8 K and compatibility with industrial control equipment. New bridge temperature sensor for superconducting magnets and other cryogenic applications / Dudarev, Alexey (CERN) ; Bremer, Johan (CERN) ; Mentink, Matthias (CERN) ; Mulder, Tim (Twente U., Enschede) ; ter Harmsel, Jeroen (Twente U., Enschede) ; ten Kate, Herman H J (CERN)
A few hundred temperature sensors are used to monitor the temperature behavior of the gigantic ATLAS toroid superconducting magnet system during cool down and normal operation. In order to guarantee good sensitivity of temperature measurements in the range from liquid helium to room temperature, two types of sensors are positioned at the same location: platinum resistance thermometers for the range 30–300 K and carbon composition resistors (Allen-Bradley) for the 4–30 K range. Control System for the ORNL Multicharged Ion Research Facility High-Voltage Platform / Bannister, Mark ; Meyer, Fred W ; Sinclair, John
A control system for the 250-kV platform and beamlines for accelerating and transporting multiply-charged ion beams produced by an all-permanent-magnet ECR ion source has been developed at the ORNL Multicharged Ion Research Facility. The system employs Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) software controlling an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). [...]
