In the framework of the IMCC (International Muon Collider Collaboration), a feasibility study for a collider ring 10 km long with muons having a center of mass energy of 10 TeV is currently being carried out. The superconducting magnets represent one of the most challenging components of the collider stage of such a facility: indeed, the need for high fields, large apertures and dipole + quadrupole combined function require technological choices at the edge of the status of the art. Mechanical Design of a ReBCO Non/Metal-Insulated 40 T Solenoid for the Muon Collider
/ Accettura, C (CERN) ; Bertarelli, A (CERN) ; Bordini, B (CERN) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Dudarev, A (CERN) ; Kolehmainen, A (CERN) ; Mulder, T (CERN) ; Sanda, F (CERN) ; Vernassa, G (CERN)
In the framework of the design studies of a Muon Collider (MuC), the design of Ultra-High-Field (UHF) magnets is a crucial part, particularly for the MuC's final cooling stage. To address this, CERN has recently introduced a conceptual design for a 40 T solenoid characterized by very compact pancake coils. [...]

In accordance with the guidelines set forth in the Updated European Strategy for Particle Physics, the International Muon Collider Collaboration has been initiated to assess the feasibility of a Muon Collider facility with a center-of-mass energy of 10 TeV. The primary challenges stem from the brief muon lifetime at rest, which is limited to 2.2 µs. [...]

Building Scalable Analysis Infrastructure for ATLAS
/ Gardner Jr, Robert William (University of Chicago (US)) ; Lancon, Eric (Brookhaven National Laboratory (US)) ; Vukotic, Ilija (University of Chicago (US)) ; Bryant, Lincoln (University of Chicago (US)) ; Golnaraghi, Farnaz (University of Chicago (US)) ; Stephen, Judith Lorraine (University of Chicago (US)) ; Taylor, Ryan (University of Victoria (CA)) ; Hu, Fengping (University of Chicago (US))
/ATLAS Collaboration
We explore the adoption of cloud-native tools and principles to forge flexible and scalable infrastructures, aimed at supporting analysis frameworks being developed for the ATLAS experiment in the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) era. The project culminated in the creation of a federated platform, integrating Kubernetes clusters from various providers such as Tier-2 centers, Tier-3 centers, and from the IRIS-HEP Scalable Systems Laboratory, a National Science Foundation project. The ATLAS detector produces a wealth of information for each recorded event. Standard calibration and reconstruction procedures reduce this information to physics objects that can be used as input to most analyses; nevertheless, there are very specific analyses that need full information from some of the ATLAS subdetectors, or enhanced calibration and/or reconstruction algorithms. [...]

Investigating Data Access Models for ATLAS: A Case Study with FABRIC Across Borders and ServiceX

/ATLAS Collaboration
This study explores enhancements in analysis speed, WAN bandwidth efficiency, and data storage management through an innovative data access strategy. The proposed model introduces specialized ‘delivery’ services for data preprocessing, which include filtering and reformatting tasks executed on dedicated hardware located alongside the data repositories at CERN’s Tier-0, Tier-1, or Tier-2 facilities.
