First results on new helium based eco-gas mixtures for the Extreme Energy Events Project / EEE Collaboration
The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Project, a joint project of the Centro Fermi (Museo Storico della Fisica e Centro Studi e Ricerche "E.Fermi") and INFN, has a dual purpose: a scientific research program on cosmic rays at ground level and an intense outreach and educational program. The project consists in a network of about 60 tracking detectors, called telescopes, mostly hosted in Italian High Schools. [...]

Ecological transition for the gas mixtures of the MRPC cosmic ray telescopes of the EEE Project / EEE Collaboration
The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Collaboration is fully involved in an ecological transition. The use of the standard gas mixture, \ce{C_2H_2F_4}+ \ce{SF_6}, has stopped in favor of an alternative green mixture based on \ce{C_3H_2F_4} with the addition of He or \ce{CO_2}. [...]

The ecological transition of the extreme energy events experiment / Abbrescia, M (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) ; Avanzini, C (Pisa U.) ; Baldini, L (Pisa U.) ; Baldini Ferroli, R (Frascati) ; Batignani, G (Pisa U.) ; Battaglieri, M (INFN, Genoa) ; Boi, S (Cagliari U.) ; Bossini, E (Pisa U.) ; Carnesecchi, F (CERN) ; Cavazza, F (INFN, Bologna) et al.
The need for reducing the emission of gases, potentially contributing to the greenhouse effect and climate change, has impacted many fields, including scientific research. The Extreme Energy Event (EEE) collaboration started, already several years ago, a series of tests aiming at finding a more eco-friendly replacement for the gases used in the Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPCs) of its network. The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) experiment consists in a network of cosmic muon tracker telescopes, each made of three Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPC), able to precisely measure the absolute muon crossing time and the muon integrated angular flux at the ground level. To investigate the MRPC telescope response and performance, a simulation tool was developed in GEMC, software package based on GEANT4 libraries. [...]

After its successful campaign of measurements beyond the Polar Arctic Circle, the PolarquEEEst experiment measured the cosmic charged particle rate at sea level in a latitude interval between 35$^{\circ }$ N and 82$^{\circ }$ N. In this paper, these measurements are described and the corresponding results are discussed..

The eruption of the Hunga-Tonga volcano in the South Pacific Ocean on January 15, 2022, at about 4:15 UTC, generated a violent explosion, which created atmospheric pressure disturbances in the form of Rayleigh-Lamb waves detected all over the globe. Here we discuss the observation of the Hunga-Tonga shock-wave performed at the Ny-Ålesund Research Station on the Spitsbergen island, by the detectors of the PolarquEEEst experiment and their ancillary sensors.
