ATF2-3 hardware upgrade and new experimental results to maximize luminosity potential of linear colliders / Faus-Golfe, Angeles (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Aryshev, Alexander (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Lyapin, Alexey (Oxford U.) ; Kruchinin, Konstantin (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Terunuma, Nobuhiro (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Fuster-Martinez, Nuria (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Burrows, Philip (Oxford U.) ; Mazzoni, Stefano (CERN) ; Okugi, Toshiyuki (KEK, Tsukuba) /ATF2 Collaboration
The ATF2-3 beamline is the only facility in the world for testing the Final Focus Beamline of linear colliders and is essential for the ILC and the CLIC projects. A vertical electron beam size of 41 nm (within 10% of the target), a closed-loop intra-bunch feedback of latency 133 ns, and direct stabilization of the beam position at the Interaction Point to 41 nm (limited by IP BPM resolution) have all been achieved at ATF2. Cherenkov Diffraction Radiation as a tool for beam diagnostics / Lefèvre, Thibaut (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Apollonio, Marco (Diamond Light Source) ; Aryshev, Alexander (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Bergamaschi, Michele (CERN) ; Billing, Michael (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Bleko, Vitol'd (Tomsk Polytechnic U.) ; Bobb, Lorraine (Diamond Light Source) ; Bordlemay Padilla, Yadira (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Conway, Joseph (Cornell U., CLASSE) et al.
During the last three years, the emission of Cherenkov Diffraction Radiation (ChDR), appearing when a relativistic charged particle moves in the vicinity of a dielectric medium, has been investigated with the aim of providing non-invasive beam diagnostics. ChDR has very interesting properties, with a large number of photons emitted in a narrow and well-defined solid angle, providing excellent conditions for detection with very little background. [...]

Tuning the ultralow $β^*$ optics at the KEK Accelerator Test Facility 2 / Yang, R (CERN) ; Pastushenko, A (CERN ; Orsay) ; Aryshev, A (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Bergamaschi, M (CERN) ; Cilento, V (CERN ; Orsay) ; Faus-Golfe, A (Orsay) ; Fukuda, M (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Korysko, P (CERN) ; Kubo, K (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Kuroda, S (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) et al.
For future linear colliders, a nanometer-scale beam size at the interaction point (IP) is one of the most challenging technical aspects. To explore the feasibility of a final focus system with a high chromaticity level, comparable to that of the Compact Linear Collider, the ultralow β* optics has been proposed and tuned at the KEK Accelerator Test Facility 2. Development of a a YAG/OTR Monitor / Yang, Renjun (Orsay, LAL) ; Aryshev, Alexander (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Bambade, Philip (Orsay, LAL) ; Bergamaschi, Michele (CERN) ; Naito, Takashi (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Terunuma, Nobuhiro (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Wallon, Sandry (Orsay, LAL)
To investigate the mechanisms of beam halo formation and its dynamics, a YAG/OTR monitor has been developed and tested at the KEK-ATF. The monitor has four ceramic Ce:YAG  screens for the visualization of the beam core and beam halo and an OTR target to provide complementary beam core measurements. [...]

Recent Results on Non-invasive Beam Size Measurement Methods Based on Polarization Currents / Mazzoni, Stefano (CERN) ; Aryshev, Alexander (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Bergamaschi, Michele (CERN) ; Billing, Michael (Cornell U.) ; Bleko, Vitol'd (Tomsk Polytechnic U.) ; Bobb, Lorraine (Diamond Light Source) ; Conway, Joseph (Cornell U.) ; Forster, Michael (Cornell U.) ; Fuentes, Yadira (Cornell U.) ; Jones, Owain Rhodri (CERN) et al.
We present recent results on non-invasive beam profile measurement techniques based on Diffraction Radiation (DR) and Cherenkov Diffraction Radiation (ChDR). Both methods exploit the analysis of broadband electromagnetic radiation resulting from polarization currents produced in, or at the boundary of, a medium in close proximity of a charged particle beam. [...]

Noninvasive Micrometer-Scale Particle-Beam Size Measurement Using Optical Diffraction Radiation in the Ultraviolet Wavelength Range / Bergamaschi, M (CERN ; Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Aryshev, A (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Karataev, P (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Kieffer, R (CERN ; Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Lefevre, T (CERN) ; Mazzoni, S (CERN) ; Terunuma, N (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Yang, R (LPGP, Orsay)
We present recent achievements in the application of optical diffraction radiation (ODR) to the measurement of the transverse beam size of a 1.3 GeV micrometer-size electron beam performed with an instrument installed in the extended extraction line of the KEK Accelerator Test Facility. ODR is a recent technique for the measurement of the transverse size and emittance of highly relativistic particle beams. [...]

Sub-micron scale transverse electron beam size diagnostics methodology based on the analysis of optical transition radiation source distribution / Aryshev, A (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Ainsworth, R (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Aumeyr, T (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Bergamaschi, M (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Boogert, S T (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Karataev, P (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Kieffer, R (CERN) ; Kruchinin, K (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Lefevre, T (CERN) ; Mazzoni, S (CERN) et al.
Optical Transition Radiation (OTR) appearing when a charged particle crosses a boundary between two media with different dielectric properties has widely been used as a tool for transverse profile measurements of charged particle beams in numerous facilities worldwide. The resolution of the conventional monitors is defined by the dimensions of the Point Spread Function (PSF) distribution, i.e. [...]
