Abstract The L3+C experiment combines the high precision muon spectrometer of the L3 detector at LEP, CERN, with a small air shower array. Cosmic ray muon events can be measured in the momentum range from 20 to 2000 GeV. Multi-muon events allow - together with a shower energy measurement in the scintillator array to constrain the chemical composition of the primary nuclei. Until summer 2000 about 8 billion muons and 25 million air shower events have been recorded. Here, we report first results on the momentum spectrum and the muon charge ratio.
