Abstract The Silicon Transition Radiation Detector (Si-TRD) is a transition radiation detector based on the technology of silicon microstrip detectors. Due to the relatively high ionization energy release in semiconductor material (a few hundred keV), silicon detectors have been used in conjunction with a magnetic field in order to separate the transition radiation X-rays from the radiating particles. A SiTRD prototype has been tested with an electron-pion beam at CERN-PS with momenta up to 3 GeV/c. The beam test results will be presented and compared with the predictions obtained from a full Monte Carlo simulation. (3 refs).
