Welcome and Introduction (10 minutes): Welcoming and historical introduction to the Polymer Lab and the CERN-wide service to the 24 visitors: Presentation of different polymer families (epoxy, polyurethane, silicone) and their applications, along with descriptions of molding processes. Vacuum impregnation demonstration with a mold in a vacuum system After this introduction, the group of 24 visitors splits into two groups of 12 for further demonstrations. R&D Demonstration (10 minutes): Selected examples of R&D projects at Polymer laboratory: Materials characterization in the Polymer Lab, focusing on irradiation damage study and demonstration of some test equipment (DMA, impact tester) Glues, adhesion and surface characterization and demonstration of the equipment (surface analyzer) 3D Printing Demonstration (10 minutes): Overview of the history of 3D printing in the Polymer Lab, including possibilities, materials, and example of applications: Demonstration of 3D printers, specifically SLA (Stereolithography) and FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling), while printing. Discussion on the development of copper and nickel deposition, painting, and technology combinations. Future research directions for 3D printing at CERN. Rotation Between R&D and 3D Printing (10 minutes each): After the initial demonstrations, the two groups can switch between the R&D and 3D printing segments to ensure all visitors have the opportunity to experience both parts of the visit. High Voltage laboratory (10 minutes): Finally, the 24 visitors will walk to the high voltage laboratory to finish the visit. General overview of the laboratory, the equipment in use and demonstration of a Paschen test.
