Abstract | The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics does not supply any fundamental particles for dark matter and can not explain the baryon-antibaryon asymmetry in the Universe. Therefore new searches with new techniques are essential in high energy physics. With these motivations SND@LHC (Scattering and Neutrino Detector at the Large Hadron Collider) at CERN is proposed to search for feebly interacting particles that can be a dark matter candidate. In this thesis work, spatial alignment of the SciFi (Scintillating Fiber) modules of the SND@LHC detector is studied using the minimization software MINUIT, employing chi-square minimization method. The results of the alignment studies demonstrate that the MINUIT minimization package can be used to align the SND@LHC SciFi modules. In addition, Millepede-II package for linear least squares fits is introduced to further improve the alignment. |
