The Parrot team have announced the release of Parrot 7.1, an update to the project's 7.x series. The new version includes additional desktop editions along with updated tools: "All the updates released over the past few weeks following the launch of Parrot 7 have now been consolidated into this minor release. While Parrot 7.0 is already stable and fully usable, with version 7.1 we have investigated and improved several issues reported by our users during their daily experience with the OS. You'll also find updates to our security toolset, along with a few small new features that we hope will make your journey in cybersecurity - and beyond - even more enjoyable. Some known GRUB bugs affecting certain laptops, preventing the OS from booting, have now been fixed. We have also reintroduced the i386 architecture, but only for those dependencies required by specific tools, such as Steam. As we mentioned in the previous release, we can now build additional images as we see fit. Following community requests, we decided to provide Parrot 7.1 ISO images featuring the MATE and LXQt desktop environments, along with a new spin based on the Enlightenment window manager." The release notes offer additional information. Download (SHA512, pkglist): Parrot-home-7.1_amd64.iso (3,382MB, torrent), Parrot-security-7.1_amd64.iso (7,090MB, torrent). |

SolydXK
SolydX and SolydK are Debian-based distributions with the Xfce and KDE desktops respectively. SolydXK aims to be simple to use, providing an environment that is both stable and secure. SolydXK is an open-source alternative for small businesses, non-profit organisations and home users. The project started as an unofficial variant of Linux Mint's "Debian" edition with KDE as the default desktop, but it was later given its own identity as SolydK. SolydX was added after Linux Mint dropped its Debian-based flavour that used the Xfce desktop. The project also has a rolling release branch, called Enthusiast's Editions, which used Debian Testing as a base.
